Courtney's hat trick boosts Missouri over Denver, 6-2Silverstein Eye Centers Arena Sat, Nov 02, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
A hat trick by Andrew Courtney was the highlight in Mavericks' 6-2 win against the Denver Cutthroats. Courtney got on the scoresheet 18:29 into the first period. He then added goals at 7:23 into the second and at 17:11 into the third.With 27 shots on target during the contest, the Missouri Mavericks exceeded the 24.4 shots they average per game this year. Missouri also got points from Sebastien Thinel, who also finished with two goals and two assists. Missouri also got a goal from John-Scott Dickson as well. More assists for Missouri came via Saverio Posa and Rob Kleebaum, who each chipped in one and Eric Castonguay and Evan Vossen, who contributed two a piece. Denver avoided man-down situations well, totaling one major for five minutes in penalty time. The Cutthroats finished below its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. Denver forced Missouri goalie Shane Owen to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. The Cutthroats were helped by Vincent Arseneau, who registered one goal. Arseneau scored 18:54 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Missouri. Matt Glasser assisted on the tally. Robin Soudek also scored for Denver. In addition, Denver received assists from TJ Fox, Michael Schumacher, and Cam Reid, who each chipped in one. Owen rejected 31 shots on goal for the Mavericks. Missouri totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Kent Patterson recorded 21 saves for Denver. The Cutthroats registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
