Tyler Ludwig scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Allen Americans picked up the extra point in a 4-3 (1-0 SO) win over the Tulsa Oilers.

Allen pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 31 penalty minutes.

The Americans stifled Tulsa's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Allen failed to reach its usual level of shot production, putting 25 pucks on goal after averaging 33.3 shots per game this season. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

The Americans were helped by Corey Tamblyn, who finished with one goal. Tamblyn scored 14:36 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Allen. Spencer Asuchak provided the assist. Allen also got a goal from Mike Berube as well. In addition, Allen received assists from Daniel Tetrault, Kale Kerbashian, Alex Lavoie, and Garrett Klotz, who each chipped in one.

The Oilers were often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and three majors for 39 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 19.0 minutes per game Tulsa had been spending in the box. The Oilers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Allen to score on any of its eight power plays. The 45 shots that Tulsa put on net surpassed the Oilers' average of 32.6 shots per game this season.

Tulsa was helped by Michel Beausoleil, who grabbed one goal. Beausoleil scored 17:33 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Allen. Todd Robinson assisted on the tally. Tulsa additionally got points from Ben Gordon, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Ryan Cramer also scored for Tulsa. Other players who recorded assists for Tulsa were Jake Obermeyer and Drew Fisher, who contributed one a piece.

The Americans' Bryan Pitton stopped 42 shots out of the 45 that he faced. Ross MacKinnon made 21 saves for the Oilers on 24 shots. Tulsa registered zero goals on eight power play opportunities.
