Quad City survives St. Charles comeback, wins 7-5i-wireless Center Sat, Oct 26, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Quad City Mallards, who led by five goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Quad City and clinched a 7-5 victory. The Mallards led by five goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Quad City's Gabriel Levesque's scored on the power play at 12:29 in the first period to put the Mallards up 5-0. Mike Hellyer was all over the ice for Quad City, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Hellyer scored the first of his two goals at 53 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Quad City. Mike Stinziani assisted on the tally. Hellyer's next tally made the score 6-5 Quad City with 6:33 left in the third period. Michael Monfredo picked up the assist. The St. Charles Chill were unable to stop the Mallards from sending pucks towards the net, and Quad City eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. Quad City also got points from Stinziani, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Gergo Nagy, who also had one goal and one assist, and Matt Boyd, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Quad City also got a goal from Matt Duffy as well. More assists for Quad City came via Vladimir Nikiforov, who had two and Tyler Yaworski, Nicolas Rioux, Darren McMillan, and Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel, who contributed one a piece. St. Charles forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 26.0 minutes per game the Chill had been spending in the box. St. Charles relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Chad Costello, David Strathman and Kyle Kraemer took 19 of the team's 29 shots. The Chill's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. St. Charles additionally got points from Costello, who also racked up two goals and one assist to lead the team in points and Anthony Perdicaro, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Nielsson Arcibal also scored for St. Charles. In addition, St. Charles received assists from Jordan Fox, who had two and Dean Moore and Kyle OKane, who each chipped in one. Thomas Heemskerk made 12 saves before being replaced by Ty Rimmer, who took the win and made 12 saves. The Mallards incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. St. Charles' starting goalie, Robert Moss, made 38 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Mathieu Corbiel, who stopped one shot. The Chill registered one goal on two power play opportunities.
