Sebastien Thinel scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Missouri Mavericks picked up the extra point in a 3-2 (3-1 SO) win over the St. Charles Chill. The shootout featured nine attempts between both teams. St. Charles' shootout goal was scored by Jordan Fox. Missouri's other shootout goals were scored by John-Scott Dickson and Thinel.The Mavericks saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Missouri made the score 2-0 on a goal by Saverio Posa at 1:27 in the second period. The Chill evened things up at 2-2 on a goal by Martin Hlinka at 18:49 in the third period. The Mavericks pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 20 penalty minutes. Missouri's defensemen played well offensively, producing two goals while racking up 14 shots. Missouri also got a goal from Anders Franzon as well. More assists for Missouri came via Colt King, who had one and Trevor Kell, who had two. St. Charles' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Missouri power plays. The Chill relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Steve Makway, David Strathman and Sean Muncy took 16 of the team's 31 shots. St. Charles' offense was helped by the efforts of its defensemen, who managed to put 15 shots on net during the game. The Chill were led by Fox, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Fox scored 4:02 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Missouri. The Mavericks' Shane Owen stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Mathieu Corbiel recorded 25 saves for St. Charles. The Chill incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For St. Charles, Anthony Pisano was ejected from the game.
