Brampton survives Arizona comeback, wins 5-4Powerade Centre Fri, Oct 18, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Arizona Sundogs tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Brampton Beast would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-4. Brampton took a 5-3 lead during the third period, only to have Arizona storm back on a Sebastien Geoffrion goal 19:07 into the third period to pull to one goal down. Brent Vandehogen had two goals to lead the Beast to victory. Vandehogen scored at 17:34 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Brampton and again while 2:23 into the second to make the score 3-1 Brampton. Brampton kept the Sundogs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Cam Lanigan made 32 saves on 37 shots. Brampton also got points from Calin Wild, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Andrew Fournier also scored for Brampton. Other players who recorded assists for Brampton were Rob Collins, Michael Couch, and Brett Smith, who each chipped in one. Arizona was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 26 penalty minutes. Arizona also got a goal from Brodie Zuk as well. More assists for Arizona came via Jason Morgan, who had two and Henric Hoglund, Jordan Clendenning, and Ryan Gaucher, who contributed one a piece. Kristofer Westblom made 21 saves for the Beast on 25 shots. Brampton totaled 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 1-for-7 on the power play. The Sundogs registered one goal on two power play opportunities.
