Almonte Thunder downs Shawville Pontiacs in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Brandon Mendham gave Almonte Thunder a 5-4 (OT) victory over Shawville Pontiacs when he scored 2:24 into the extra period.

Almonte Thunder came back from a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. Almonte Thunder was down 3-0 after a power play goal by Shawville Pontiacs' Dylan Scott at 8:19 in the second period. Almonte Thunder knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Luke Martin at 10:11 in the third period.

Almonte Thunder got the win thanks to a great game by Andrew Rowbotham, who had two goals and one assist. Rowbotham scored the first of his two goals at 11:56 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Shawville Pontiacs. Kane Abbis-Mills picked up the assist. Rowbotham's next tally made the score 3-2 Shawville Pontiacs with 1:56 left in the second period. Riley Shore assisted on the tally.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 14:05 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Almonte Thunder's offense rang up 31 shots on Shawville Pontiacs' net.

Almonte Thunder additionally got points from Martin, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Mendham, who also had one goal and one assist. Jordan Bosely also scored for Almonte Thunder. Other players who recorded assists for Almonte Thunder were Kyle Weedmark and Nick Villeneuve, who contributed one a piece.

Shawville Pontiacs stifled Almonte Thunder's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Shawville Pontiacs was helped by Isak Savard, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Savard scored 10:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Shawville Pontiacs. Mathew Labrosse provided the assist. Shawville Pontiacs also got points from Scott, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Labrosse, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Julian Dumont, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Shawville Pontiacs came via Lucas Driscoll-McKinnon and Christopher Bones, who each chipped in one.

Alex Daley rejected 25 shots on goal for Almonte Thunder. Almonte Thunder totaled 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors and two majors and went 0-for-3 on the power play. Team's Cameron Cornwall and Brendan Rousselle were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Danick Boisvert made 26 saves for Shawville Pontiacs on 31 shots. Shawville Pontiacs totaled 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 2-for-5 on the power play. For Shawville Pontiacs, Danick Genest and Liam Poirier were ejected from the contest.
