Almonte Thunder uses shootout to best Renfrew Timberwolves, 7-6 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Almonte Thunder defeated Renfrew Timberwolves in a shootout 7-6 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured six attempts between both teams. Renfrew Timberwolves' shootout goal was scored by Sean Kyte. Almonte Thunder's other shootout goal was scored by Andrew Rowbotham.

Almonte Thunder came back from a four-goal deficit to capture the victory. Almonte Thunder fell behind 6-2 after a goal by Renfrew Timberwolves' Issac Anderson at 9:56 in the second period. Almonte Thunder knotted things up at 6-6 on a goal by Rowbotham at 19:27 in the third period.

Renfrew Timberwolves was unable to stop Almonte Thunder from sending pucks towards the net, and Almonte Thunder eventually piled up 45 shots on goal. Almonte Thunder found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Almonte Thunder has scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign.

Almonte Thunder additionally got points from Cameron Cornwall, who also registered one goal and one assist and Luke Martin, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Almonte Thunder included Kane Abbis-Mills and Jordan Bosely, who each put in one. More assists for Almonte Thunder came via Tyler McKechnie, Brock Saunders, Riley Shore, Terry Mallon, and Justin Marquis, who each chipped in one.

Renfrew Timberwolves forced Almonte Thunder's netminders to work without much rest, taking 32 shots and forcing 26 saves. Arun Kumar made 18 stops and Richard Barr made eight.

Renfrew Timberwolves was led by Tanner Smith, who had two goals. Smith scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 9:32 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Scott Conroy provided the assist. Smith's next tally on the power play made the score 3-1 Renfrew Timberwolves with 18:53 left in the second period. Conroy assisted on the tally. Renfrew Timberwolves also got points from Kyte, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Anderson, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Luke Lapierre, who also registered one goal and one assist. Renfrew Timberwolves also got a goal from Teddy Suckow as well. In addition, Renfrew Timberwolves received assists from Michael Minns, who had two and Colin Bradbury, Dylan Zavitskie, Pat Dick, and Tyler MacDonald, who contributed one a piece.

Almonte Thunder incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Mitchell Knight rejected 38 shots on goal for Renfrew Timberwolves. Renfrew Timberwolves incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
