Stittsville Royals hangs on, beats Arnprior Packers 3-2

Mitch Kerwin gave Stittsville Royals the lead in the first period, and Arnprior Packers was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 3-2.

Kerwin provided Stittsville Royals with the game-winning tally when he scored 12:56 into the the first period. Jermy Nichols provided the assist.

Arnprior Packers' power play was ineffective against Stittsville Royals' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Stittsville Royals was led by Steve Genier, who finished with one goal. Genier scored on the power play 15:18 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Stittsville Royals. Stittsville Royals earned a power play opportunity when Damian Armstrong was put in the box for interference. Nichols picked up the assist.

Stittsville Royals stifled Arnprior Packers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Stittsville Royals kept Arnprior Packers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Erik Miksik made 32 saves on 35 shots.

Stittsville Royals also got points from Tanner Knight, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Kerwin, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Stittsville Royals came via Keegan Rowe and Jordan Cale, who each chipped in one.

Stittsville Royals was unable to stop Arnprior Packers from sending pucks towards the net, and Arnprior Packers eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Patrick McGrath also scored for Arnprior Packers. In addition, Arnprior Packers received assists from Marc Rowe, John McLean, Michael McGrath, and Kurtis Keohane, who contributed one a piece.

Stittsville Royals' Patrick Kealey stopped 35 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Stittsville Royals incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Arnprior Packers incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors.
