Ottawa Canadians wins tough contest against Ottawa West Golden Knights, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Ottawa Canadians escaped with a 3-2 victory over Ottawa West Golden Knights.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Casey Doner's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Ottawa Canadians' offense rang up 33 shots on Ottawa West Golden Knights' net.

Ottawa Canadians was led by Josh Hartley, who tallied two goals. Hartley scored the first of his two goals at 8:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Ottawa Canadians. Hartley's next tally made the score 2-2 with 17:26 left in the third period. Mitch Parker picked up the assist. In addition, Ottawa Canadians received assists from Chad Millett, Ben Hartley, and Tom Kesheshian, who each chipped in one.

Ottawa West Golden Knights excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Ottawa Canadians was unable to stop Ottawa West Golden Knights from sending pucks towards the net, and Ottawa West Golden Knights eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Ottawa West Golden Knights was helped by Zac Rodier, who grabbed two goals. Rodier scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 10:12 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Ottawa West Golden Knights had gotten the advantage when Ottawa Canadians' Daniel Laframboise was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Dave Kilrea assisted on the tally. Rodier's next tally on the power play made the score 2-1 Ottawa West Golden Knights with 4:54 left in the second period. Ottawa West Golden Knights earned a power play opportunity when Kesheshian was put in the box for holding. Jeff Gottzman picked up the assist.

Drew Rienhardt made 29 saves for Ottawa Canadians on 31 shots. Ottawa Canadians incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
