Gatineau Mustangs wins tough contest against Arnprior Packers, 5-3

Gatineau Mustangs gutted out a close 5-3 win against Arnprior Packers.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Benoît Lavigne at 10:11 of the third period.

Gatineau Mustangs got the win thanks to a great game by Vincent Proulx, who had two goals and one assist. Proulx scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 12:15 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Gatineau Mustangs earned a power play opportunity when Damian Armstrong was put in the box for head contact. Cédric Parker provided the assist. Proulx's next tally on the power play made the score 5-3 Gatineau Mustangs with 1:24 left in the third period. Gatineau Mustangs had taken the advantage when Arnprior Packers' Ty Fleming got sent off for high sticking. Dominik Robinson assisted on the tally.

Gatineau Mustangs' penalty kill excelled, as Gatineau Mustangs gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 17:38 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with eight game misconducts.

Gatineau Mustangs stifled Arnprior Packers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Gatineau Mustangs additionally got points from Lavigne, who also registered one goal and one assist and Robinson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Gatineau Mustangs also got a goal from Jacob Osborne as well. Other players who recorded assists for Gatineau Mustangs were Mikael Gervais, Joey Mazerolle, and Simon Damphousse, who each chipped in one.

Arnprior Packers also had goals scored by Jake Gaudet and James Prebble, who scored one goal each. In addition, Arnprior Packers received assists from Mike MacKenzie, Colby Cochrane, and Corey Chaplin, who contributed one a piece.

Nicholas Maheux rejected 19 shots on goal for Gatineau Mustangs. Gatineau Mustangs incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Team's Raphael Grandmaison and Justin-Claude Bissonnette were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Erik Miksik made 25 saves for Arnprior Packers on 30 shots. Arnprior Packers incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors. For Arnprior Packers, Prebble, Cochrane, and Chaplin were ejected from the contest.
