Metcalfe Jets squeaks by Almonte Thunder, 5-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Metcalfe Jets escaped with a 5-3 victory over Almonte Thunder.

Metcalfe Jets gained the winning advantage on a goal by Geoff Hiebert 18:14 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Jordan Malette was all over the ice for Metcalfe Jets, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Malette scored the first of his two goals at 12:34 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Almonte Thunder. Junau St-Germain provided the assist. Malette's next tally made the score 5-3 Metcalfe Jets with 17 seconds left in the third period. Derek Varrin picked up the assist.

Almonte Thunder was unable to stop Metcalfe Jets from sending pucks towards the net, and Metcalfe Jets eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Metcalfe Jets' goal total was higher than its season average. Metcalfe Jets averages 2.8 goals per game. Metcalfe Jets had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on nine chances.

Metcalfe Jets also got a goal from Nathan Avery as well. In addition, Metcalfe Jets received assists from Giuseppe (Joey) Sollazzo, who had two and Daniel Martin, Matt Borkowski, and Sean Bakker, who each chipped in one.

Almonte Thunder was led by Luke Martin, who tallied one goal and one assist. Martin scored 1:31 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Almonte Thunder. Andrew Rowbotham provided the assist. Almonte Thunder additionally got points from Rowbotham, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cameron Cornwall also scored for Almonte Thunder. More assists for Almonte Thunder came via Brandon Mendham, who had one and Liam Killeen, who had two.

Metcalfe Jets' Connor Hicks stopped 19 shots out of the 22 that he faced. Metcalfe Jets incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Alex Daley made 32 saves for Almonte Thunder on 36 shots. Almonte Thunder incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
