Perth Blue Wings uses shootout to best Stittsville Royals, 5-4 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Perth Blue Wings defeated Stittsville Royals in a shootout 5-4 (2-1 SO).

The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams. Stittsville Royals' shootout goal was scored by Ben Wade. Perth Blue Wings' other shootout goal was scored by Blair Barr.

Perth Blue Wings overcame a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. Perth Blue Wings was down 3-0 after a goal by Stittsville Royals' Eric Malloy at 11:55 in the second period. Perth Blue Wings tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Adam Morton at 19:09 in the third period.

Perth Blue Wings got the win on the strength of a great game by Barr, who had one goal and two assists. Barr scored on the power play 11:37 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Stittsville Royals. Perth Blue Wings had gotten the advantage when Stittsville Royals' Malloy was sent off for slashing. Morton provided the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 6:39 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.
