Oliphant's big game bests Amherstburg in 6-2 Blenheim win

Jarrod Oliphant had two goals and two assists to lead the Blenheim Blades to a 6-2 victory over the Amherstburg Admirals.

Oliphant scored at 8:04 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Blenheim and again while 14:10 into the third to make the score 6-2 Blenheim.

Blenheim kept Amherstburg's goalie busy throughout the game, and Arren Romeril made 37 saves on 43 shots. The Blades capitalized on the Admirals' penalties, netting two goals while skating with a man advantage. Blenheim struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 46 penalty minutes for five opposing power plays.

Blenheim additionally got points from Dylan Muzzatti, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Drew Marlatt, who also finished with two goals and one assist, and Austin Bentley, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Blenheim were Justin Rossignol, who had three and Conner Annett and Cam Aitken, who contributed two a piece.

Amherstburg's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Admirals finished with 54 penalty minutes.

Amherstburg was led by Jordan Luciw, who had one goal and one assist. Luciw scored on the power play 15:28 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Blenheim. A tripping penalty on Oliphant had put the Admirals on the power play. Curtis Prymack picked up the assist. Josh Laframboise also scored for Amherstburg. More assists for Amherstburg came via Brett Beattie, who had two.

The Blades' Adam Lebouef stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced.
