Ditty's big game bests Wallaceburg in 6-2 Belle River win

Mike Ditty had one goal and two assists to lead the Belle River Canadiens to a 6-2 victory over the Wallaceburg Lakers.

Ditty scored 11:51 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Belle River. Evan Weidenback provided the assist.

In a losing effort, Wallaceburg was led by Justin Whitson, who registered two goals. Whitson scored the first of his two goals at 4:17 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Belle River. Weidenback assisted on the tally. Whitson's next tally made the score 3-2 Belle River with 5:31 left in the second period. Jeff Morey picked up the assist.

Belle River forced the Lakers goalie Ben Vankessel to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Belle River additionally got points from Brenden Crundwell, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Connor Goodchild, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Belle River also had goals scored by Branden Larocque, Tyler Turner, and Kody Gagnon, who scored one goal each. In addition, Belle River received assists from Brad Carroll, Guy Levesque, Michael Long, Brian Johnson, and Logan Percy, who each chipped in one.

Other players who recorded assists for Wallaceburg were Frank Saputo, who had two.

The Canadiens' Jacob Lucier stopped 16 shots out of the 18 that he faced. Belle River incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Vankessel rejected 35 shots on goal for Wallaceburg. The Lakers incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
