Marlatt's goals lift Blenheim to 6-2 victory over AlvinstonBlenheim Memorial Arena Sun, Jan 26, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Drew Marlatt had two goals to lead the Blenheim Blades to a 6-2 victory over the Alvinston Flyers. Marlatt found the back of the net 19:55 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Blenheim and again while 5:54 into the third to make the score 3-0 Blenheim.Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 7:48 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Blenheim forced Alvinston goalie Brett Avery to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Blenheim also got points from Cam Aitken, who also registered two goals and three assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Blenheim included Bryce Broad and Corbin Hagerman, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Blenheim were Conner Annett, who had two, Dylan Muzzatti, who had three, and Ben Pataki APM, Derek Muzzatti, and Alex Ritchie, who each chipped in one. The Flyers did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Alvinston puts an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game. The Flyers were helped by Kole Keating, who had one goal. Keating scored 17:48 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Blenheim. Dan Warner provided the assist. Alvinston also got a goal from Tyler Kettler as well. In addition, Alvinston received assists from Jake McPhail, Sam Vokes, and Chad Vaneyk, who contributed one a piece. Eric Stewardson recorded 26 saves for the Blades. Blenheim totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. The Blades ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ritchie was ejected from the game. Alvinston's Avery stopped 31 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Flyers totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For Alvinston, Jake ONeil was ejected from the game. |
