The Wheatley Sharks tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Alvinston Flyers held on for a 4-2 victory. A goal by Karsten Berg put Alvinston up 4-1 in the third period, but Wheatley pulled to within two on Jon Woelk's tally 14:23 into the third period. The Flyers were sparked by Joe Archer, who finished with one goal. Archer scored on the power play 11:43 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Alvinston. Alvinston had gotten the advantage when the Sharks' Jimmy Ciacelli was sent off for checking from behind. Dan Warner provided the assist. The Flyers forced Wheatley's netminders to work all game long, ripping 43 shots and forcing 39 saves. Everitt Omstead made 16 stops and Conner MacKinnon made 23. Alvinston found itself short handed often, totaling 19 penalty minutes and allowing five power plays. Team could not crack the Sharks' penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having 10 opportunities to play with the man advantage. Alvinston additionally got points from Clint Rose, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Tyler Kettler, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for Alvinston were Zach VanEyk, who had one. Wheatley racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. The Sharks surpassed its season average of 15.0 penalty minutes per game. Wheatley forced the Flyers goalie Brett Avery to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. In addition, Wheatley received assists from Mike Reid, Evan Makaric, Cale Phibbs, and Scott Florence, who each chipped in one. Brett Avery made 36 saves for Alvinston on 38 shots. The Flyers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Sam MacGee was ejected from the game. For the Sharks, Brett Babkirk, Ciacelli, and Eric Rivard were ejected from the contest.
