Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Amherstburg Admirals defeated the Dresden Kings in a shootout 4-3 (3-2 SO). The shootout lasted for 14 attempts between the teams. Dresden got shootout goals from Dede Cato and Kevin Ritzer. Amherstburg's other shootout goals were scored by Kyler Carter and Mark Sobocan.The Admirals forced the Kings goalie Brent Paxton to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Amherstburg was helped by Jordan Luciw, who finished with one goal. Luciw scored 10:10 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Amherstburg. Sobocan provided the assist. Amherstburg also had goals scored by Carter and Zack Brown, who scored one goal each. In addition, Amherstburg received assists from Ryan Jones, Dan Matoski, Luke Gagnon, and Mark Gagnon, who contributed one a piece. Dresden's offense rang up 34 shots on the Admirals' net. The Kings were helped by Wade Esselman, who registered one goal. Esselman scored 18:55 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Cato picked up the assist. Dresden also got points from Cato, who also had one goal and one assist and James Shelton, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Dresden came via Jeff Vanrabaeys, Andrew France, Dillon Liberty, and Macks Holmes, who each chipped in one. Arren Romeril rejected 31 shots on goal for Amherstburg. The Admirals incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Amherstburg, Brown was ejected from the game. Dresden's Paxton stopped 28 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Kings incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
