Blenheim falls to Belle River after surprising comeback

Undaunted by a three-goal deficit, the Belle River Canadiens battled back to claim a 5-4 victory over the Blenheim Blades.

Belle River never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Canadiens trailed 3-0 after a goal by Blenheim's Derek Muzzatti at 4:23 in the first period. Belle River tied things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Sebastian Kanally at 30 seconds in the second period. The Canadiens scored the game winner at 2:34 in the second period on a goal by Kanally.

Kanally had one goal and two assists to lead Belle River.

The Canadiens forced Blades' goalies to work between the pipes, totaling 32 shots and forcing 27 saves. Dylan Vanderpol made 16 stops and Eric Stewardson made 11.

Belle River also got points from Branden Larocque, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Mike Ditty, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Belle River included Zack Bedard and Brenden Crundwell, who each put in one. More assists for Belle River came via Mac Laforest, Andy Britton, Kody Gagnon, Brian Johnson, and Thomas Eady, who contributed one a piece.

The Blades were helped by Jarrod Oliphant, who registered one goal. Oliphant scored 14:00 into the second period to make the score 5-4 Belle River. Bryce Broad provided the assist. Blenheim also got a goal from Zack Horvath as well. Other players who recorded assists for Blenheim were Zach Mailloux, Dylan Muzzatti, Kellen Kaniecki, Brayden Seliga, and Ty Scratch, who each chipped in one.

Belle River took out Jacob Lucier after he had made five saves and installed Mitch Topliffe in goal, where he finished with 20 saves and the win. The Canadiens incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Blenheim incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
