Larocque's big game bests Wheatley in 5-2 Belle River winGLJHL Head Office Fri, Jan 03, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Branden Larocque had one goal and two assists to lead the Belle River Canadiens to a 5-2 victory over the Wheatley Sharks. Larocque scored 9:27 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Belle River. Andy Britton provided the assist. Larocque dished an assist on Mike Ditty's goal that made the score 2-1 Wheatley at 5:32 into the second period. He added another helper on Sebastian Kanally's goal that made the score 5-2 Belle River at 12:43 into the third period.Belle River forced Wheatley goalie Conner MacKinnon to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. Belle River additionally got points from Ditty, who also registered one goal and one assist and Kanally, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Belle River also had goals scored by Guy Levesque and Hunter Corp, who each put in one. In addition, Belle River received assists from Kody Gagnon, who had two and Brian Johnson, Thomas Eady, and Trevor Sparks, who contributed one a piece. The Sharks could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Wheatley averages 4.2 goals per game. The Sharks' offense rang up 35 shots on the Canadiens' net. Wheatley was helped by Scott Florence, who racked up one goal. Florence scored 16:13 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Wheatley. Tyler Liboiron picked up the assist. Wheatley also got a goal from Mike Reid as well. More assists for Wheatley came via Evan Makaric, Cale Phibbs, and Jon Woelk, who each chipped in one. Jacob Lucier made 33 saves for Belle River on 35 shots. The Canadiens incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. MacKinnon rejected 35 shots on goal for the Sharks. Wheatley incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
