Alvinston beats Blenheim 1-0 as Avery gains shutout

Brett Avery made 30 saves to complete the shutout and led the Alvinston Flyers to a 1-0 win against the Blenheim Blades.

Joe Archer's game-winning tally was the game's only goal. It came at 12:28 in the third period. Dylan Lightfoot assisted on the tally.

Alvinston was led by Archer, who racked up one goal.

The Flyers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Blenheim to score on any of its three power plays. Alvinston did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Flyers put an average of 4.4 pucks into the net per game. Alvinston kept the Blades' goalie busy throughout the game, and Dylan Vanderpol made 38 saves on 39 shots.

In addition, Alvinston received assists from Dan Warner, who had one.

Blenheim's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Alvinston power plays. The Blades could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Blenheim averages 4.0 goals per game.

The Flyers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Blades incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
