Blenheim outlasts Wheatley, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Blenheim Blades escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Wheatley Sharks.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Corbin Hagerman's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Blenheim was paced by Hagerman, who tallied one goal and one assist. Hagerman scored on the power play 10:27 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Blenheim. A hooking penalty on Frank Ciacelli had put the Blades on the power play. Brayden Seliga provided the assist.

Blenheim forced Wheatley goalie Conner MacKinnon to work between the pipes, taking 51 shots.

Others who scored for Blenheim included Derek Muzzatti and Drew Marlatt, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Blenheim were Dylan Muzzatti, Cam Aitken, Zack Horvath, and Justin Rossignol, who contributed one a piece.

The Sharks' offense operated below they season average. Wheatley averages 4.3 goals per game.

The Sharks were helped by Shawn Hope, who racked up one goal. Hope scored 19:12 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Wheatley. Mike Reid also scored for Wheatley. In addition, Wheatley received assists from Jimmy Ciacelli and Brett Bowman, who each chipped in one.

Dylan Vanderpol rejected 19 shots on goal for the Blades. Blenheim incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Wheatley's MacKinnon stopped 48 shots out of the 51 that he faced. The Sharks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
