Mooretown erases deficit to stun Belle River, 4-3

The Mooretown Flags climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Belle River Canadiens, 4-3.

Mooretown let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Flags took a 1-0 advantage on a goal by Ryan Lyle at 2:36 in the first period. Mooretown found itself down 3-1 after Belle River's Brenden Crundwell put the puck home at 18:23 in the second period. After knotting things up at 3-3 on a goal by Dan Lumley at 7:28 in the third, the Flags got the game-winner from Brett Thompson at 18:05 in the third period.

Mooretown was led by Thompson, who had one goal.

The Canadiens were unable to stop the Flags from sending pucks towards the net, and Mooretown eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Mooretown additionally got points from Jeff Schroeter, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Mooretown received assists from Clay Williams, McGregor Haddon, Chad Beauchamp, and Sam Jasmin, who contributed one a piece.

Belle River stifled the Flags' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Canadiens kept Mooretown's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Johnson made 36 saves on 39 shots.

Belle River was helped by Kody Gagnon, who registered one goal. Gagnon scored 17:15 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Belle River. Sebastian Kanally picked up the assist. Belle River also got points from Branden Larocque, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Belle River were Brad Carroll, Mike Ditty, and Andy Britton, who each chipped in one.

The Flags incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Jacob Lucier made 31 saves for the Canadiens on 35 shots. Belle River incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
