Belle River uses early goal to top Mooretown, 3-1

Thomas Eady gave the Belle River Canadiens the lead in the first period, and the Mooretown Flags was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 3-1.

Eady provided Belle River with the game-winning tally when he scored 16:53 into the the first period. A high sticking call on Zack Bedard put the Canadiens on the penalty kill. Sebastian Kanally provided the assist.

Mooretown was stymied by Belle River netminder Jacob Lucier, who stopped 32 shots during the victory. Lucier managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.96 prior to the game.

The Canadiens were led by Hunter Corp, who racked up one goal. Corp scored 5:27 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Belle River. Matthew Couloufis picked up the assist.

Belle River's offense rang up 44 shots on the Flags' net.

Belle River also got points from Kanally, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Belle River received assists from Branden Larocque and Brian Johnson, who contributed one a piece.

Mooretown could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Flags put an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game. Mooretown's offense rang up 33 shots on the Canadiens' net.

The Flags were led by Matt Brandon, who scored the team's only goal. Brandon scored on the power play 12:23 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Belle River. Mooretown had gotten the advantage when Belle River's Brenden Crundwell was sent off for tripping. Chad Beauchamp provided the assist.

The Canadiens incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Brandon Johnson made 41 saves for the Flags on 44 shots. Mooretown incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Flags ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Spencer Bronzi was ejected from the game.
