Solecki's goals lift Essex to 5-1 victory over Mooretown

Behind a great game by Dylan Solecki, who had two goals, the Essex 73s defeated the Mooretown Flags, 5-1.

Solecki scored at 3:33 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Essex and again while short handed 18:31 into the third to make the score 5-1 Essex.

Essex put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Mooretown to score on any of its four power plays. The 73s kept the Flags' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Johnson made 34 saves on 39 shots.

Others who scored for Essex included Dallas Pereira, Matthew Hebert, and Philip Janikowski, who each put in one. More assists for Essex came via Tyler Scott, who had two and Matthew Rosati, Eric Shaw, Colin DeLaet, Daniel McIntyre, and Aaron Thibert, who contributed one a piece.

Mooretown excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances. The Flags could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Mooretown puts an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game.

Jacob Kment made 23 saves for Essex on 24 shots. The 73s incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Flags incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
