Belle River wins tough contest against Blenheim, 4-2

The Belle River Canadiens gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Blenheim Blades.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Branden Larocque at 19:59 of the third period.

Guy Levesque had two goals to lead Belle River to victory. Levesque's tallies came at 2:15 into the third period to make the score 2-2 and 5:07 into the third to make the score 3-2 Belle River.

The Canadiens forced Blenheim goalie Eric Stewardson to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. Belle River struggled on the penalty kill, allowing the Blades to score two power play goals on three chances.

Belle River also got a goal from Tyler Turner as well. Other players who recorded assists for Belle River were Mike Ditty, who had two and Brad Carroll, Sebastian Kanally, Hunter Corp, Michael Long, and Brian Johnson, who each chipped in one.

Blenheim was held below its usual level of production. The Blades average 4.2 goals per game.

Blenheim was helped by Justin Rossignol, who registered one goal. Rossignol scored on the power play 6:45 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Blenheim. The Blades had gained a power play chance when Thomas Eady was whistled for goalie interference. Brayden Seliga assisted on the tally. Blenheim also had goals scored by Dylan Muzzatti and Cam Aitken, who each put in one. In addition, Blenheim received assists from Mackenzie Dick, Kirk McKillop, and James Shelton, who contributed one a piece.

Adam Leboeuf recorded 27 saves for the Canadiens. Belle River totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. For the Canadiens, Long and Kody Gagnon were ejected from the contest. Eric Stewardson made 31 saves for Blenheim on 34 shots. The Blades ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. For Blenheim, Jarrod Oliphant was ejected from the game.
