Dresden outlasts Mooretown, 4-2

The Dresden Kings gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Mooretown Flags.

Dresden gained the winning advantage on a goal by Jeff Vanrabaeys 10:49 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

The Kings were paced by Vanrabaeys, who had one goal.

Mooretown was unable to stop Dresden from sending pucks towards the net, and the Kings eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Others who scored for Dresden included Dillon Liberty, Derek Daly, and Mike Myers, who scored one goal each. More assists for Dresden came via Graham Smyth, Andrew France, and Kevin Ritzer, who contributed one a piece.

The Flags did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Mooretown puts an average of 4.6 pucks into the net per game.

The Flags were helped by McGregor Haddon, who registered one goal. Haddon scored 3:21 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Mooretown. David Addley picked up the assist. Caden Fleming also scored for Mooretown. In addition, Mooretown received assists from Jeff Schroeter, Matt Brandon, and Dan Lumley, who each chipped in one.

Brent Paxton made 23 saves for Dresden on 25 shots. The Kings incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Brandon Johnson rejected 27 shots on goal for Mooretown. The Flags incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
