Belle River falls to Amherstburg in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Amherstburg Admirals pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Belle River Canadiens on a clutch goal by Ryan Jones.

Amherstburg came back from a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Admirals trailed 3-0 after a goal by Belle River's Hunter Corp at 13:39 in the first period. Amherstburg knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Jordan Luciw at 19:00 in the third period.

The Admirals' penalty kill excelled, as Amherstburg gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

The Admirals stifled the Canadiens' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Amherstburg forced Belle River goalie Adam Leboeuf to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. The Admirals could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game.

Amherstburg additionally got points from Luciw, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Amherstburg included Kyler Carter and Josh Laframboise, who each put in one. More assists for Amherstburg came via Dan Matoski, who had two and Kyle Morand, Daniel Bachynsky, and Brett Beattie, who each chipped in one.

The Canadiens excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances. Belle River got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

The Canadiens were helped by Brian Johnson, who finished with one goal. Johnson scored 2:59 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Belle River. Michael Long assisted on the tally. Kody Gagnon also scored for Belle River. Other players who recorded assists for Belle River were Matthew Couloufis and Thomas Eady, who contributed one a piece.

Klinton Kenney made four saves before being replaced by Chris Wallace, who took the win and made 21 saves. Leboeuf rejected 33 shots on goal for Belle River. The Canadiens incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
