Alvinston rolls over Mooretown, 6-3

The Alvinston Flyers were firing on all cylinders against the Mooretown Flags, and when the final buzzer sounded Flyers emerged with a 6-3 win.

Joe Archer was all over the ice for Alvinston, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Archer scored the first of his two goals at 2:22 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Alvinston. Dan Warner picked up the assist. Archer's next tally made the score 6-3 Alvinston with 6:33 left in the third period. Warner assisted on the tally.

The Flyers stifled Mooretown's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Flags were unable to stop Alvinston from sending pucks towards the net, and the Flyers eventually piled up 45 shots on goal. Alvinston bested its season scoring average. The Flyers have scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

Alvinston additionally got points from Warner, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Alvinston also had goals scored by Tyler Kettler, Karsten Berg, and Sam Vokes, who each put in one. More assists for Alvinston came via Dylan Lightfoot, who had two and Sam MacGee, Clint Rose, Troy Whitely, Zach VanEyk, Chad Vaneyk, and Chad Rainsberry, who each chipped in one.

Mooretown forced Alvinston goalie Brett Avery to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

The Flags were helped by Sam Jasmin, who tallied one goal. Jasmin scored 14:03 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Alvinston. Brandon Layman provided the assist. Mooretown also got points from Dan Lumley, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. McGregor Haddon also scored for Mooretown. In addition, Mooretown received assists from Clay Williams and Jeff Schroeter, who contributed one a piece.

Brett Avery made 30 saves for the Flyers on 33 shots. Alvinston incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Brandon Johnson recorded 39 saves for Mooretown. The Flags incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
