Beaulieu lifts Essex over Dresden, 7-2Essex Centre Sports Complex Tue, Nov 19, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Corey Beaulieu had two goals to lead the Essex 73s to a 7-2 victory over the Dresden Kings. Beaulieu found the back of the net on the power play 14:33 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Essex and again while 3:00 into the second to make the score 3-1 Essex.Dresden was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as Essex was able to score four times while on the power play. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 9:40 into the third period. Five fighting penalties were dished out along with eight game misconducts. The 73s racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and four majors for 60 minutes in penalty time. Essex surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. The 73s' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on 10 Dresden power plays. Essex's offense rang up 51 shots on the Kings' net. Essex additionally got points from Dallas Pereira, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Tyler Scott, who also registered one goal and one assist. Essex also had goals scored by Jordan Ryan, Philip Janikowski, and Dylan Solecki, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Essex were Tyler Raymont, who had two and Brett Clarke, Eric Shaw, Scott Bromley, Colin DeLaet, Daniel Slipchuck, and Chad Hedrick, who contributed one a piece. Dresden forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 12 minors and four majors for 54 minutes in penalty time.
