Warner leads Alvinston over Dresden, 7-4

Dan Warner had two goals and one assist to lead the Alvinston Flyers to a 7-4 victory over the Dresden Kings.

Warner found the back of the net 9:42 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Alvinston and again while 7:52 into the third to make the score 5-4 Alvinston.

Alvinston kept Dresden's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brent Paxton made 41 saves on 48 shots. The Flyers outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Alvinston averages 3.9 goals per contest.

Alvinston also got points from Joe Archer, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Dylan Lightfoot, who also registered one goal and two assists. Alvinston also got a goal from Karsten Berg as well. In addition, Alvinston received assists from Troy Whitely, who had two, Sam Vokes, who had three, and Jake ONeil and Campbell Carter, who contributed one a piece.

The Flyers were unable to stop the Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Dresden eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. The Kings' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Dresden was helped by Mike Myers, who racked up one goal. Myers scored on the power play 6:50 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Alvinston. A slashing penalty on Chad Vaneyk had put the Kings on the power play. Macks Holmes assisted on the tally. Dresden additionally got points from Dede Cato, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Jeremy Griffore also scored for Dresden. Other players who recorded assists for Dresden were Jeff Vanrabaeys, Kevin Ritzer, and Alex Ritchie, who each chipped in one.

Brett Avery recorded 36 saves for Alvinston. The Flyers incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Dresden incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
