Dresden rips Wallaceburg, 6-1

The Wallaceburg Lakers had trouble finding ways to stop the Dresden Kings, which beat Lakers, 6-1.

Dresden was led by Jeff Vanrabaeys, who racked up one goal. Vanrabaeys scored 14:58 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Dresden. Dillon Liberty picked up the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 12:27 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

Wallaceburg was unable to stop the Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Dresden eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. The Kings bested their season scoring average. Dresden has scored at the pace of 2.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

Dresden additionally got points from Liberty, who also grabbed two goals and one assist to lead the team in points and Mike Myers, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Jeremy Griffore also scored for Dresden. More assists for Dresden came via Jay Piett, Dede Cato, Owen Welch, Alex Ritchie, Wade Esselman, and Macks Holmes, who contributed one a piece and Graham Smyth and Braedon Nicholson, who each chipped in two.

The Kings' Brent Paxton stopped 16 shots out of the 17 that he faced. Dresden totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. For the Kings, Matt Vince and Esselman were ejected from the contest. Matt Badour rejected 28 shots on goal for the Lakers. Wallaceburg totaled 41 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. For the Lakers, Evan Weidenback was ejected from the game.
