Alvinston downs Wallaceburg, 5-2Walpole Island Complex Thu, Nov 07, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Sam Vokes grabbed two points to lead the Alvinston Flyers to a 5-2 victory over the Wallaceburg Lakers. Alvinston stifled Wallaceburg's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Lakers were unable to stop the Flyers from sending pucks towards the net, and Alvinston eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. Alvinston also got points from Troy Whitely, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Karsten Berg, who also racked up two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Alvinston also got a goal from Dylan Lightfoot as well. Other players who recorded assists for Alvinston were Clint Rose, Dan Warner, Joe Archer, Campbell Carter, Chad Rainsberry, and Matt (APM) Gough, who contributed one a piece. Wallaceburg forced the Flyers goalie Brad Jacklin to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. The Lakers were helped by Evan Weidenback, who tallied one goal. Weidenback scored 2:38 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Alvinston. Justin Whitson provided the assist. Wallaceburg additionally got points from Whitson, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Wallaceburg came via Jeff Morey, Mike Kindarachok, and Ryan Gruszka, who each chipped in one. Jacklin recorded 35 saves for Alvinston. The Flyers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Wallaceburg's Joel Sowinski stopped 28 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Lakers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
