Hebert's big game bests Alvinston in 7-1 Essex win

The Essex 73s' Matthew Hebert had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 7-1 win over the Alvinston Flyers.

Hebert's tallies came at 17:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Essex and short handed 16:30 into the second to make the score 3-1 Essex.

Essex pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 26 penalty minutes.

The 73s stifled Alvinston's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Essex's offense rang up 43 shots on the Flyers' net.

Essex also got points from Brett Clarke, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Corey Beaulieu, who also had one goal and two assists, and Scott Bromley, who also registered one goal and one assist. Essex also got a goal from Alex Garon as well. Other players who recorded assists for Essex were Michel Popel, Zoran Popel, Dylan Solecki, Daniel Slipchuck, and Aaron Thibert, who contributed one a piece.

Alvinston was held below its usual level of production. The Flyers average 3.5 goals per game.

Alvinston was led by Joe Archer, who scored the team's only goal. Archer scored 13:12 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Essex. Sam Vokes picked up the assist.

Jacob Kment made 17 saves for the 73s on 18 shots. Essex registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. Brett Avery rejected 36 shots on goal for the Flyers. Alvinston incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
