Belle River uses big second period to beat Wallaceburg, 6-1

The Wallaceburg Lakers allowed the Belle River Canadiens to net three goals during the second period and fell, 6-1.

Belle River got the win behind a great game by Trevor Sparks, who had two goals and one assist. Sparks scored the first of his two goals at 1:44 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Belle River. Guy Levesque picked up the assist. Sparks' next tally made the score 5-0 Belle River with 15:24 left in the third period. The Canadiens found themselves down a man on Ryan Alexander's boarding.

Belle River forced Lakers' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, firing 37 shots and forcing 31 saves. Wesley Hughson made 19 stops and Joel Sowinski made 12. The Canadiens stifled Wallaceburg's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Belle River also got points from Levesque, who also registered two goals and one assist. Belle River also got a goal from James Shelton as well. Other players who recorded assists for Belle River were Mike Ditty, Tyler Snyder, Zack Bedard, and Jordan Luciw, who each chipped in one.

Adam Leboeuf rejected 17 shots on goal for Belle River. The Canadiens incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Lakers incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
