Copeland nets hat trick, leads Amherstburg to 9-0 win over Wallaceburg

The Wallaceburg Lakers could not stop the Amherstburg Admirals' Chad Copeland, who tallied a hat trick in a 9-0 win.

Copeland's first goal came 16:04 into the first period. He then added goals at 16:37 into the second and at 19:25 into the third.

Amherstburg pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 21 penalty minutes.

The Admirals made Wallaceburg's netminders to work between the pipes, finishing with 36 shots and forcing 27 saves. Joel Sowinski made 19 stops and Wesley Hughson made eight. Amherstburg excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Admirals' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Amherstburg averages 3.9 goals per contest. The Admirals got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Amherstburg also got points from Kyle Morand, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Zack Brown, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Brett Beattie, who also had one goal and two assists. Amherstburg also got a goal from Cody Leeming as well. In addition, Amherstburg received assists from Mark Sobocan, Kyler Carter, and Connor Rennie, who each chipped in one and Dan Matoski and Blake Rutckyj, who contributed two a piece.

Amherstburg's Klinton Kenney stopped 24 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Admirals registered three goals on eight power play opportunities. Team's Curtis Prymack and Andy Britton were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Lakers incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
