Huge game by Durston boosts Blenheim over Mooretown, 8-6

The Blenheim Blades' Jordan Durston had a big offensive game, scoring four goals and contributing one assist in his team's 8-6 win over the Mooretown Flags.

Durston's first goal came 13:08 into the first period. He then added goals at 17:57 into the first, at 14:57 into the second, and at 11:43 into the third.

Mooretown fell victim to a deadly Blenheim power play, which ripped the Flags for four goals.

Mooretown was unable to stop the Blades from sending pucks towards the net, and Blenheim eventually piled up 49 shots on goal. The Blades found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Blenheim has scored at the pace of 5.4 goals per game during the current campaign. The Blades got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed four goals during the game.

Blenheim also had goals scored by Dylan Muzzatti, who had one and Drew Marlatt, who had three. Other players who recorded assists for Blenheim were Tyler Boughner, Ty Scratch, and Aaron Pastorius, who each chipped in one, Ryan Frizzell and Brayden Seliga, who contributed two a piece, and Cam Aitken and Justin Rossignol, who each chipped in four.

The Flags kept Blenheim's goalie busy throughout the game, and Justin Pratt made 44 saves on 50 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Mooretown could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Flags were led by Dan Lumley, who tallied two goals and one assist. Lumley scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 19:15 into the second period to make the score 5-4 Mooretown. Mooretown had taken the advantage when the Blades' Scratch got sent off for interference. Matt Brandon picked up the assist. Lumley's next tally on the power play made the score 6-5 Mooretown with 15:40 left in the third period. The Flags had gotten the advantage when Blenheim's Scratch was sent off for roughing. McGregor Haddon assisted on the tally. Mooretown also got points from Ryan Lyle, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Haddon, who also had one goal and one assist. Mooretown also got a goal from Ryan Jennings as well. More assists for Mooretown came via Sam McCormack, Clay Williams, Caden Fleming, Joey Stock APM, and Brandon Layman, who contributed one a piece.

The Blades incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Brandon Johnson made 41 saves for Mooretown on 48 shots. The Flags registered two goals on seven power play opportunities.
