Belle River outlasts Alvinston, 4-2

The Belle River Canadiens gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Alvinston Flyers.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Brenden Crundwell's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Belle River pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 26 penalty minutes.

The Canadiens were sparked by Crundwell, who finished with one goal. Crundwell scored 15:28 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Belle River. Jordan Luciw assisted on the tally.

Belle River put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Alvinston to score on any of its eight power plays. The Flyers were unable to stop the Canadiens from sending pucks towards the net, and Belle River eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Belle River also got points from Mike Ditty, who also registered one goal and two assists and Tyler Snyder, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Belle River also got a goal from Evan Makaric as well. More assists for Belle River came via Branden Larocque and James Shelton, who each chipped in one.

Alvinston kept the Canadiens' goalie busy throughout the game, and Adam Leboeuf made 40 saves on 42 shots.

The Flyers were helped by Chad Vaneyk, who racked up one goal. Vaneyk scored 5:35 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Alvinston. Troy Whitely provided the assist. Sam Vokes also scored for Alvinston. Other players who recorded assists for Alvinston were Bryce Hunter, Dylan Lightfoot, and Zach VanEyk, who contributed one a piece.

Belle River registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Brett Avery made 31 saves for Alvinston on 35 shots. The Flyers incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
