Amherstburg rides Wallace to victory over Dresden, 5-1GLJHL Head Office Fri, Oct 18, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Chris Wallace stood on his head and made 26 saves to lead the Amherstburg Admirals to a 5-1 victory over the Dresden Kings. Amherstburg pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 29 penalty minutes. The Admirals were sparked by Ryan Jones, who registered one goal. Jones scored on the power play 14:48 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Amherstburg. Amherstburg had gained a power play chance when Matt Vince was whistled for holding. Luke Gagnon assisted on the tally. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 18:44 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with four game misconducts. The Admirals capitalized on Dresden's penalties, netting two goals while skating with a man advantage. Amherstburg got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game. Amherstburg additionally got points from James Brooks, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Curtis Prymack, who also had one goal and one assist. Amherstburg also got a goal from Zack Brown as well. More assists for Amherstburg came via Kyle Morand, Kyler Carter, Daniel Bachynsky, and Blake Rutckyj, who each chipped in one. The Kings were led by Dillon Liberty, who scored the team's only goal. Liberty scored on the power play 8:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dresden. A slashing penalty on Morand had put Dresden on the power play. Mike Myers picked up the assist. For the Admirals, Steven Spada was ejected from the game. Brent Paxton recorded 23 saves for the Kings. Dresden totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-8 on the power play. The Kings ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Alex Ritchie was ejected from the game.
