Larocque nets hat trick, leads Belle River to 6-2 win over Wallaceburg

The Wallaceburg Lakers could not stop the Belle River Canadiens' Branden Larocque, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-2 win.

Larocque's first goal came 12:03 into the first period. He then added goals at 19:14 into the first and at 18:05 into the third.

Belle River's offense rang up 57 shots on Wallaceburg's net.

Belle River additionally got points from Tyler Snyder, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Evan Makaric, who also had one goal and two assists. JJ Percy also scored for Belle River. More assists for Belle River came via Mike Ditty, Zack Bedard, Brenden Crundwell, and Jordan Luciw, who contributed one a piece and James Shelton and Tyler Turner, who each chipped in two.

The Lakers struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 28 penalty minutes for nine opposing power plays.

Wallaceburg was helped by Evan Weidenback, who tallied one goal. Weidenback scored on the power play 15:40 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Belle River. The Lakers had taken the advantage when the Canadiens' Michael Long got sent off for holding. Lucais Meyskens assisted on the tally. Wallaceburg also got a goal from Frankie White as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wallaceburg were Ryan Gruszka and Mike Zottl, who contributed one a piece.

Adam Leboeuf rejected 23 shots on goal for Belle River. The Canadiens incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For Belle River, Brian Johnson and Connor Goodchild were ejected from the contest. Wallaceburg's Wesley Hughson stopped 51 shots out of the 57 that he faced. The Lakers registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For Wallaceburg, Jeff Morey was ejected from the game.
