Amherstview uses shootout to best Deseronto, 3-2 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Amherstview Jets defeated the Deseronto Storm in a shootout 3-2 (2-0 SO).

The shootout featured four attempts between both teams. Amherstview also got a shootout goal from Josh Leblanc.

The Jets came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Amherstview was down 2-1 after a goal by Deseronto's Mitchell Thompson at 6:31 in the third period. The Jets knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Jordan Howe at 18:09 in the third period.

Amherstview forced the Storm goalie Brock Tufts to work between the pipes, taking 65 shots.

Matt Horton also scored for Amherstview. Other players who recorded assists for Amherstview were Jesse Stone, Brett Yake, Mark Christensen, and Cassidy Bruni, who contributed one a piece.

Deseronto put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jets to score on any of their five power plays.

The Storm were helped by Brett Maracle, who racked up one goal and one assist. Maracle scored 13:46 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Deseronto. Josh Cameron assisted on the tally. Deseronto also got points from Thompson, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Deseronto came via Brandon Turner, who had one.

Amherstview's James DAndrea stopped 16 shots out of the 18 that he faced. The Jets incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Tufts rejected 62 shots on goal for Deseronto. The Storm incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
