Picton uses fast start to beat Deseronto, 11-0

The Deseronto Storm fell behind early, and the Picton Pirates kept piling on the points on the way to an 11-0 victory.

Picton got the win on the strength of a great game by Ryan Sizer, who had two goals and two assists. Sizer scored the first of his two goals at 10:05 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Picton. Nolan Powers picked up the assist. Sizer's next tally made the score 5-0 Picton with 56 seconds left in the first period. Brian Bunnett provided the assist.

The Pirates forced Deseronto goalie Matt Lovelys to work between the pipes, taking 59 shots. Picton found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Pirates average 5.8 goals per game.

Picton also got points from Jack Davison, who also registered one goal and one assist, Bunnett, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Taylor Brown, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, and Griffin McCarty, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Picton included Corey Prince, who had three and Nolan Van Vlack, Clint Aussprung, and Chris Jones, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Picton were Steven Clarke, who had two and Miles Levtov, Brandon Peever, Devin McCann, and Evan Greer, who contributed one a piece.

Adam Wood made 20 saves for Picton on 20 shots. The Pirates avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored one goal off of four power plays. Lovelys rejected 48 shots on goal for the Storm. Deseronto incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities.
