Amherstview vanquishes Port Hope in shootout, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Amherstview Jets defeated the Port Hope Panthers in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured six attempts between both teams.

Amherstview pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 24 penalty minutes.

The Jets were ineffective while on the power play, as they were held to two goals off of 10 man advantages.

Amherstview was led by Zach Masterson, who registered two goals. Masterson scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 18:27 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Jets had gotten the advantage when Port Hope's Brandon Baks (APM) was sent off for tripping. Brody Taylor picked up the assist. Masterson's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Amherstview with 11:55 left in the second period. Taylor assisted on the tally. Jesse Stone also scored for Amherstview. Other players who recorded assists for Amherstview were Jaylon Gorman, Brett Yake, Cody Jodoin, and Ben Bianco, who contributed one a piece.

The Panthers forced Amherstview goalie Trpy Paquette to work between the pipes, taking 51 shots. Port Hope could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Panthers were led by Matt Trudel, who had two goals. Trudel scored the first of his two goals at 8:49 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Port Hope. Trudel's next tally made the score 3-3 with 16:36 left in the third period. Port Hope earned a power play opportunity when Jodoin was put in the box for hooking. Dan Lagrois picked up the assist. Port Hope also got a goal from Kyle Sullivan as well. More assists for Port Hope came via Connor Turland, who had one.

Paquette rejected 48 shots on goal for the Jets. The Panthers' Branson Schell stopped 19 shots out of the 22 that he faced. Port Hope registered one goal on seven power play opportunities.
