Picton takes care of Deseronto early, wins 11-0

The Deseronto Storm fell behind early, and the Picton Pirates kept piling on the points on the way to an 11-0 victory.

Adam Wood frustrated Deseronto's offense all game, and stopped 25 shots en route to a shutout. Wood certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 0.77 entering the contest.

Ryan Sizer was all over the ice for Picton, as he tallied two goals and three assists in the win. Sizer scored the first of his two goals at 18:31 into the first period to make the score 4-0 Picton. Jack Davison picked up the assist. Sizer's next tally made the score 8-0 Picton with 15:15 left in the third period. The Pirates had gotten the advantage when the Storm's Mitch Goodfellow was sent off for roughing after whistle. Davison provided the assist.

Picton's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Deseronto power plays. The Pirates kept Deseronto's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brock Tufts made 41 saves on 52 shots. Picton found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Pirates average 6.0 goals per game.

Picton additionally got points from Steven Clarke, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Davison, who also tallied two goals and two assists, Brian Bunnett, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Cody Harrison, who also registered one goal and one assist. Griffin McCarty also scored for Picton. Other players who recorded assists for Picton were Brandon Peever, who had two, Chris Jones, who had three, Taylor Brown, who had four, and Nolan Van Vlack and Matt Whidden, who contributed one a piece.

Picton incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Storm incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
