Amherstview vanquishes Port Hope in shootout, 6-5 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Amherstview Jets defeated the Port Hope Panthers in a shootout 6-5 (2-0 SO).

The two teams needed four turns to complete the shootout. Amherstview also got a shootout goal from Josh Leblanc.

The Jets overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Amherstview fell behind 5-4 after a goal by Port Hope's Dylan Baxter at 18:05 in the third period. The Jets tied things up at 5-5 on a goal by Cody Jodoin at 19:51 in the third period.

Zach Masterson and Leblanc provided the spark for Amherstview, combining for two goals and five assists. Masterson registered one goal and three assists and Leblanc also notched one goal and two assists.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 15:47 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

The Jets' offense rang up 38 shots on the Panthers' net.

Amherstview also got points from Andrew Fullerton, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Leblanc, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Amherstview also got a goal from Jordan Howe as well. More assists for Amherstview came via Brody Taylor, who had one and Jaylon Gorman, who had two.

Port Hope kept Amherstview's goalie busy throughout the game, and Trpy Paquette made 27 saves on 32 shots.

The Panthers were led by Tyler Davey, who had two goals. Davey scored the first of his two goals at 14:37 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Davey's next tally made the score 3-3 with 19:30 left in the third period. Connor Turland assisted on the tally. Port Hope additionally got points from Dan Lagrois, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Chris Roy also scored for Port Hope. Other players who recorded assists for Port Hope were Kyle Sullivan, Riley Turland, Chays Ruddy, and Ryan Wilkinson, who each chipped in one.

The Jets totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 1-for-2 on the power play. Team's Konnor Burtenshaw (APM) and Kyle Pengelly were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Brandon Green made 32 saves for Port Hope on 37 shots. The Panthers totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and three majors and went 1-for-2 on the power play. For Port Hope, Wilkinson and Mike Smith were ejected from the contest.
