Larson's hat trick boosts Lakefield over Georgina, 9-1

Nathan Larson lifted the Lakefield Chiefs to a 9-1 victory with a hat trick against the Georgina Ice.

Larson's first goal came 1:25 into the first period. He then added goals at 11:52 into the first and at 12:43 into the second.

Lakefield's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Georgina power plays. Georgina was unable to stop the Chiefs from sending pucks towards the net, and Lakefield eventually piled up 44 shots on goal. The Chiefs found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Lakefield averages 5.4 goals per game.

Lakefield additionally got points from Shawn Mackie, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Jesse Gregory, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Jordan Walsh, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Eric Oosting, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Lakefield also got a goal from Ryan Saunders as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lakefield were Josh Duggan, Ryan Anderson, William Sullivan, Mitch Stewart, and Eric Shewell, who contributed one a piece and Travis Brault and Derek Manley, who each chipped in two.

The the Ice penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 25.0 minutes per game Georgina had been spending in the box.

Zach Wainman made 17 saves for the Chiefs on 18 shots. Lakefield totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 3-for-8 on the power play. The Chiefs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Stewart was ejected from the game. Tyler Richardson rejected 35 shots on goal for the Ice. For Georgina, Kirk Bricknell was ejected from the game.
