Clarington outlasts Little Britain, 4-3

The Clarington Eagles gutted out a close 4-3 win against the Little Britain Merchants.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Mike Hibbard secured the win for Clarington with a goal in the third period.

The Eagles were led by Hibbard, who racked up one goal. Hibbard scored 9:43 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Clarington. Brad Down picked up the assist.

Clarington kept Little Britain's goalie busy throughout the game, and Garrett Haden made 36 saves on 40 shots. The defensemen of the Eagles were also effective in the Merchants' zone, and came away with two goals.

Clarington additionally got points from Brent Hambly, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Clarington included Cody Kean and Rory Craddock, who each put in one. More assists for Clarington came via Mitchell Burghardt APM, Jarod Holister, Blane Gaudon, and Riley O'Connell, who contributed one a piece.

Little Britain forced Clarington goalie Connor Visca to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. The Merchants could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.

Little Britain was led by Greg ONeil, who finished with one goal and one assist. ONeil scored 15:02 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Clarington. Nate Huhges provided the assist. Little Britain also had goals scored by Lucas Hickey AP and Kurtis Moore, who scored one goal each. In addition, Little Britain received assists from Terry Snodden and Kyle ODonnell, who each chipped in one.

Visca rejected 33 shots on goal for the Eagles. Clarington incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Merchants registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. For Little Britain, Pat Hamilton was ejected from the game.
