Angiolella's big game bests Stouffville in 8-2 yAurora win

The yAurora Tigers' Robert Angiolella had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing three assists in his team's 8-2 win over the Stouffville Spirit.

Angiolella found the back of the net on the power play 6:24 into the first period to make the score 2-0 yAurora and again while 17:13 into the second to make the score 6-2 yAurora.

yAurora forced Spirit's goalies to work in net, taking 36 shots and forcing 28 saves. Daniel Mannella made 18 stops and Tim Bester made 10. The Tigers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, yAurora averages 4.2 goals per contest. The Tigers' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. yAurora was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 20 penalty minutes.

yAurora additionally got points from Austin Rigney, who also grabbed one goal and three assists, Kory Kennedy, who also finished with two goals and two assists, and Curtis Warren, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for yAurora included Noah Delmas and Michael Laidley, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for yAurora were Adam DiBrina, who had two, Liam Neuman, who had three, and Tyler Boston and Kyle Liu, who contributed one a piece.

Stouffville struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 38 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays.

The Spirit were led by Chad Burrows, who had one goal and one assist. Burrows scored on the power play 15:18 into the first period to make the score 2-1 yAurora. Stouffville earned a power play opportunity when Liu was put in the box for holding. Spencer Roberts provided the assist. Stouffville also got a goal from Daryl Thomson as well. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Matthew Heffernan and Carter Cummings, who each chipped in one.

Kevin Entmaa recorded 21 saves for the Tigers. The Spirit registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
