Cairns nets hat trick, leads Lindsay to 7-5 win over xPickering

Keegan Cairns netted a hat trick to lead the Lindsay Muskies over the xPickering Panthers, 7-5.

Cairns notched his first tally 18:05 into the second period. He then added goals at 9:25 into the third and at 20:00 into the third.

xPickering was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as Lindsay was able to score five times while on the power play.

The Muskies kept the Panthers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Steven Dombrosky made 47 saves on 54 shots. Lindsay outdid its season average for goals scored. The Muskies average 3.0 goals per game.

Lindsay also got points from Vince Herlihey, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Lindsay also had goals scored by Jake Ryan and Stefan von Engelbrechten, who each put in one. In addition, Lindsay received assists from Joseph Vocino, who had three and Michael Spataro, Austin Brown, Brandon Washer, Austin Eastman, and Logan DeNoble, who each chipped in one.

Lindsay was unable to stop xPickering from sending pucks towards the net, and the Panthers eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. xPickering found itself short handed often, totaling 24 penalty minutes and allowing nine power plays.

The Panthers were led by Michael Walker, who racked up three goals. xPickering additionally got points from Keegan Ackerland, who also had one goal and one assist and Michael Giacometti, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for xPickering were Tanner Shaw, who had two.

The Muskies' Branden Francey stopped 34 shots out of the 39 that he faced. xPickering registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities.
