Mississauga survives xWellington comeback, wins 6-4

The xWellington Dukes tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Mississauga Chargers held on for a 6-4 victory.

Mississauga made the score 6-3 on a goal by Ayrton Valente at 4:26 in the third period, and xWellington got as close as 6-4 when Steven Deeg scored 7:57 into the third period.

The Chargers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Mississauga averages 3.2 goals per contest.

The Chargers were helped by Lucas Venuto, who racked up three goals and one assist. Mississauga also got points from Mitch Mehling, who also registered one goal and one assist. Mississauga also got a goal from Jackson Howe as well. More assists for Mississauga came via Stefano Alonzi, who had two, Trevor Warnaar, who had four, and Tyler Cooper, Nick Tetley, and Matt Hore, who each chipped in one.

Mississauga was unable to stop the Dukes from sending pucks towards the net, and xWellington eventually piled up 49 shots on goal.

xWellington additionally got points from Andrew McCann, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Parker Wood also scored for xWellington. In addition, xWellington received assists from Andrew Coupland and Mike Soucier, who contributed one a piece and Jacob Hetherington and Abbott Girduckis, who each chipped in two.

Austin Washkurak recorded 45 saves for the Chargers. Mississauga incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Dukes' Taylor Welsh stopped 16 shots out of the 22 that he faced. xWellington incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
