Toronto falls to xMilton in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The xMilton Icehawks' Daniel Poutsoungas scored 1:13 into overtime to beat the Toronto Junior Canadiens, 5-4 (OT).

xMilton nearly gave up a three-score lead. The Icehawks made the score 4-1 on a goal by Mitch Graham at 15:06 in the second period. Toronto got to within 4-3 on a power play goal by Anthony Repaci at 9:11 in the third period.

xMilton's penalty kill excelled, as the Icehawks gave up one goal despite allowing nine power plays.

xMilton made the Junior Canadiens' netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, firing 31 shots and forcing 26 saves. Michael Bullion made 12 stops and Daniel Lopapa made 14. The Icehawks' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as xMilton finished with 18 penalty minutes.

xMilton also got points from Jeremy Gottzmann, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Ryan Burns, who also had one goal and one assist. xMilton also got a goal from Tyler Burns as well. More assists for xMilton came via Shane Bennett, who had two and Kane Elliot and TJ Fergus, who contributed one a piece.

Toronto forced the Icehawks goalie Tyler Lewis to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

Toronto also had goals scored by Mark Spadafora and Michael Cuddemi, who scored one goal each. In addition, Toronto received assists from Jake Walman, who had three and Connor Prudames, Sal Filice, and Aaron Spivak, who each chipped in one.

Lewis recorded 36 saves for xMilton. The Icehawks registered one goal on three power play opportunities. The Junior Canadiens incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
